What Are Pine Nuts?
Pine nuts are the edible seeds of pine trees.
They are shaped like teardrops and a couple of centimeters long. Pine trees take 15 - 25 years to start producing seeds, which take about 18 months to mature in the pine cones.
The seeds are taken out of the cone by hand, and then the second shell is removed before the pine nuts are ready to eat.

I've never bought pine nuts anywhere except in small quantity packets from a supermarket. These pine nuts are much better! A lot of my recipes call for 100g of pine nuts so I was for ever running out. Not anymore!
