Haricot beans are little off-white oval-shaped beans and are the beans that homemade baked beans are made from.

How To Cook

How To Cook Dried Haricot Beans

To prepare: Rinse the beans thoroughly, then pre-soak overnight – place in a pan and cover with 5cm of water. Drain the beans the next day and rinse. Preparing this way will really improve their texture and reduce the cooking time.

To Cook: Rinse and then add to boiling water and boil for 20 minutes before simmering for an hour on the stove. If you have a pressure cooker, they will cook in around 20 minutes.

You can mash the beans or add to a tomato sauce to make some delicious baked beans – once you’ve eaten homemade baked beans you won’t want to buy the canned version again. They also make a great soup – just add vegetable or chicken stock and your choice of vegetables and meat.

Quality bean

Use these beans to make home made baked beans. Delighted to find that I did not need to throw hardly any away (just a couple broken ones) when I picked through them whilst washing. Lovely consistency and taste when cooked. Will continue to purchase these beans from zero waste bulk foods.
